AN ENTIRELY NEW GENERATION

Royalpriesthood

You are a king! Are you surprised? Did you say you are not from a royal family? It does not really matter. This is not to relegate the position of all our kings; they are highly respected and honored. May they all live long prosperously! You are a king (You are of King David lineage), and let me add another shocker, you are a priest (You belong to one of the lines of the Levites)! Whether you are a woman or a man, you are both a king and a priest. You are a royal priesthood!

Before Israel dreamt of becoming like other nations, by asking for a king, there were no kings; judges rule. In order words, she was governed by judges. Judges were just like kings, and nobody had ever combined the offices of a judge and a priest together in the history of Israel until the time of Eli; after that Samuel. What a great a privilege! A royal priesthood!

A king was not entitled to do some things in the past, so also a priest. For instance, when King Uzziah went up to burn incense to the Lord – the duty that belongs to the priests (2 Chronicles 26:15-16); the Lord struck him and he became a leper (King Saul was also dealt with, when did the same). Concerning a priest, his functions were limited to the temple, and some special duties like anointing people on behalf of God, he cannot rule a nation.

What a great privilege for this new generation! A new breed of Christians: you can rule and you can burn incense – you can boldly go the throne of grace at any time, without consulting anybody. Then, you have to consult the priest; even for the priest to go in there, many sacrifices would be performed, in case he has committed one sin or the other, and a chain would be tied around his waist, in case he died right in there, you dare not enter, the chain would be used to draw him out.

In 1 Peter 2:9, out of all things; God made you a royal priesthood. A rare combination; a king like David and a priest like the Levites: which God had already had covenant of blessings with.

Thus says the Lord, if you can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and there should not be day and night in their season; then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant; that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers. As the host of heavens cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the descendants of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me –Jeremiah 33:20-22.

Think of it, when you combine these catalogues of blessing together; how great do you think you are? Mind you, if all these blessings are not yet manifested, and people are saying all kind of things, neglect them; they said the same thing to David the king and the Levites. Hear them: “…, the two families which the Lord chosen, he has even cast them off?” (Jer. 33:34)–KJV 2000

If all their “jestings” and “despising” cannot break the covenant of day and night, and cannot stop the blessings of David and Levites; then be ready for outpouring of the blessings of God, but you must manifest the characteristics of a king and a priest. Find out what they are in Proverbs 31.

King Lemuel’s mother told him that:

(1) “Give not your strength unto women, nor your ways to that which destroy kings” – Proverbs 31:3. You can also read the story of Samson. How he destroyed himself because he gave his strength unto a woman.

(2) It is not for kings to drink neither wine nor strong drink (Proverbs 31: 4 – 7).

(3) “Open your mouth for the dumb, for the cause of all who are left desolate.”Proverbs 31:8 A king should fight for the defenceless/desolate – widow, orphans etc.

(4) “Open your mouth, judge righteously and plead the cause of the poor and the needy.” Proverbs 31:9. Deuteronomy 14:28 also pleads the cause of destitute and strangers.

This is a mystery unravelled so that our blessings can be accrued to us torrentially like a heavy-intensity rain. If you put all these into consideration, the outpouring of the blessings of God upon you is sure!
