Change of Profession is Very Normal

There are always more than one door that leads to a normal building. The same applied to success in life. You may want to start as an employee before you become an entrepreneur which can lead to a big business. How I wish you learn something from the stories below.

Stuart Austin Wier prepared himself as a Construction Engineer and followed this line of work until the depression limited his market to where it did not give him the income he required.

He took inventory of himself, decided to change his profession to Law, went back to school and took special courses by which he prepared himself as a Corporation Lawyer. Despite the fact the depression had not ended, he completed his training, passed the bar examination, and quickly built a lucrative law practice, in Dallas, Texas; in fact, he is turning away clients years later.

If your profession or business does not bring adequate returns, you can change to another, where broader opportunities are available.

A story is also told of a carpenter who was making a Court furniture for a judge. He coveted the position, and went back to study law. He later became a judge, and one day, he sat down on the same very furniture he made.

These stories that I have read from different books gave me confidence when I had a challenge as an Engineer to go and study education, and became a qualified and professional teacher.

The way of knowledge is the way of continuous pursuit of knowledge!

  1. Good morning and thanks for this nice article. Yes, change is necessary and inevitable; only systems and people that are not dynamic or do not have ambitions respectively are spared from it. Very uplifting writings. Keep up this good work for all of us. A big hug. Ciao!

  2. The issue you touched on here is a stark realilty of our lives today. Just as people are thrown from one part of the world to another, much like a centrifuge, people also find themselves switching carreers. Sometimes, it is by choice. At othet times it is as a result of necessity and choice. People have to survive and since we are no longer an hunter-gatherer society, we work. We work in careers.
Some things last very long in the life of a man. Among them are things that we choose such as apprenticeships, careers and marriages. For things that last as lon as these, it is important to choose based on what one loves rather than choosing based on other values. Without passion, things as beauty, money and fame all die before the marathon ends.
I enjoyed reading your stories and sharing your perspectives.

      2. Amen sir. I wish you the best. How I wish you don’t forget home. You need to at least come and start a company here. May God continue to guide and bless you.

  3. This post is coming at a time when I am at a crossroads to changing jobs. Though in the same career circle. It’s a career I love but my recent post isn’t bringing the desired effect, not in terms of money now. I have an offer to come take up a similar role based on my achievements and outputs at my current job at another establishment. I think this post has pointed me in a direction…..

    1. Thanks friend. There is nothing bad about that. Though, it has to be given a thought before taking the final decision. You’ve been empowered to chose correctly! Do have a nice day!
